Fencing Project - Volunteers Needed! 03/07/13
We have a quarter section of land divided by a major highway that needs to have fencing for trespassing and neighboring cattle encroachment rebuilt, but first the old fence needs to be removed. The past landowners were bachelors in their late 70's and 80's so fencing has not been taken care of in most likely 40 years. That means we have some of the area with tree growth through the fence and some of it is in a wetland area that needs to be replaced. We have removed some of the fence, (page wire and barbed) along with some clean up of the yard site area. But this has taken a lot of volunteers that do not have experience with chainsaws to do, this next stage is going to require chainsaws and tools that I am not confident in having the usual group of volunteers help with. We will be able to supply a tractor to help with the heavy work and some of my family can come and help with the chainsaw work as well. At the same time we will be removing some heavy growth of caragana along the fence line.
We have a time-frame that the work needs to be completed by; and that is June 30th 2013, so I would like to get as early a start on this project as possible. Even to remove some of the wire in the wetland areas while there is ice that might hold us and leaving the posts in the water is an option for a couple of the areas.
The property in question is on highway #42 very close to the Stonhouse/Pope project that you co-own with ACA and DU, so it is not far out of Red Deer
It most likely is familiar land to anyone who travels and hunts in that area, so about ½ hr outside of Red Deer
I estimate with a good crew that we might be able to accomplish the take out of fence and the caragana cutting to be done in a day. If they also wanted to assist with the fencing rebuild that would need to be a different day, and would only be the stapling of the wire required at that time.
Please let me know if you will need anything more for details, and Thanks!
