Alberta Outdoorsmen and Mikisew Sport Fishing Announce The 2011 Alberta Anglers of The Year

Alberta Outdoorsmen and Mikisew Sport Fishing recently announced the winners of the annual Alberta Angler of the Year contest in the 2012 Alberta Guide to Sportfishing Regulations when Sports Scene Publications Inc. of Edmonton delivered the 2012 Guide in mid-March. All three winners need to be congratulated on having had excellent 2011 fishing seasons. You can also see their photos in the 2012 Alberta Sportfishing Regulations on page 92 where there is also the rules and an entry form for the 2012 Alberta Angler of the Year Contest. Keith Dominie of Edmonton, Alberta is our northern pike and 2011 Alberta Angler of the Year. Keith’s pike measured in at 48.5 inches, 6.5% longer than the provincial record for northern pike. Keith’s pike was caught at Namur Lake, a fly-in lake north of Fort McMurray. Keith’s pike weighed in at 29.8 lbs. Keith wins a fly-in fishing trip courtesy of Mikisew Sport Fishing and $300 spending money. Way to go Keith!

Qing Huang of Lethbridge, Alberta is our walleye winner for 2011. Qing’s walleye was caught at Little Bow Lake Reservoir and weighed in at a healthy 11.8 lbs. Qing’s walleye measured 33.75-inches long. Qing wins $300 for his walleye and he becomes our Walleye Champion for 2011. Excellent catch Qing!

Randy Bell of Pine Lake, Alberta is our 2011 Alberta Rainbow Trout Champion. Randy’s rainbow was caught at Phyllis Lake near Caroline and measured in at 30.5 inches and weighing 15 lbs. A remarkable trout indeed! Randy wins $300 and bragging rights for the 2012 season for being named the 2011 Alberta Angler of the Year Rainbow Champion. Good fishing Randy!
